All appointments to the Commission are on a volunteer basis. Seven appointments are made by the City of Tallahassee Commission, seven appointments are made by the Leon County Board of County Commissioners, and seven appointments are made by the Commission on the Status of Women and Girls and are ratified by the City and County Commissions for a total of 21 members. There are several opportunities for community members to seek appointment to the Tallahassee-Leon County Commission on the Status of Women and Girls including when current commissioner terms end and when vacancies arise because a Commissioner is not able to serve their full-term. Commissioners serve two year terms and may serve up to three consecutive terms. Citizens must apply to be considered for appointment.
